Polish architect Kuba Woźniczka has completed a series of four holiday cabins in the Stołowe Mountains National Park, Poland. The project, called Studzienno 27, is designed to minimize its impact on the natural surroundings.

The cabins are nestled in the woodlands and were built using cross-laminated timber (CLT). Each cabin offers 85 square meters of living space across two storeys. The ground floor features a living, dining, and kitchen area alongside a bedroom and bathroom, while the upstairs has an additional bedroom and bathroom.

The cabins were oriented to capture views from a balcony and decked patio, while avoiding disruption to any existing trees or vegetation. The exteriors are clad in planks of blackened timber, contrasting with the pale CLT structure that has been left exposed throughout the interiors.

The interiors were designed by Wrocław-based interior design practice Madde Studio to create a feeling of "calm and immersion". Exposed timber walls and ceilings are complemented by pale pastel green tones, with darker green metal frames surrounding the large windows. The windows have discreet bird-safe markings to minimize collisions.

The project's philosophy is to allow the buildings to evolve alongside the surrounding landscape. The furnishings follow this philosophy, combining natural materials with carefully selected second-hand furniture and vintage pieces that bring an existing history into the project.

## Design Philosophy

The design of Studzienno 27 was guided by the values of restraint, longevity, and respect for the site's existing natural character. The architect deliberately limited the scheme's footprint to protect the natural landscape as much as possible.

## Sustainable Design

The project's focus on sustainability is evident in its use of natural materials and its minimal impact on the environment. The cabins were built using CLT, which is a sustainable and eco-friendly building material. The project also aimed to minimize waste and reduce the carbon footprint of the construction process.

## Comparable Projects

Other holiday retreats in Poland include a duo of cottages overlooking the Silesian Beskids mountains by architecture studio Mistovia, and a gabled lakeside cottage by HOLA Design.

The photography for Studzienno 27 was taken by Maja Bułkowska.
