Italian brand Lapalma has collaborated with architect and designer Raffaella Mangiarotti on a new colour palette for its catalogue. The palette, which debuted at Salone del Mobile, is a "chromatic alphabet" of 16 distinct shades that can be applied to a variety of Lapalma's products.

Each colour was developed by Mangiarotti following research into the brand's historic use of colour, and is designed to work harmoniously across metal, wood and plastic. The new colours include Sabbia, Limone, Corallo, Borgogna, Cannella, Oltremare, Alloro, Calce, and Gru, which join existing colours Bianco, Tortora, Mattone, Celeste, Pistacchio, Perla, and Nero.

Lapalma aims for the New Colour System to become a practical design tool, enabling seating and tables to share the same aesthetic language while retaining different forms, functions, and materials. According to Lapalma, the palette "does more than replace or update the brand's historic colours. It rethinks them within a more coherent and flexible system, making them easier to combine: this is colour as language, far beyond decoration."

The art direction for the palette is by Alberto Mora, and the photography is by Salva López.
