Guitarricadelafuente will receive the Discovery Award at the SCAD Savannah Film Festival. The 29-year-old Spanish artist is being recognized for his acting debut in the festival favorite 'La Bola Negra.'
The festival runs from October 24 to 31 at The Savannah College of Art and Design. Guitarricadelafuente joins a roster of previously announced honorees that includes screen legends and emerging talent from across the industry.
Film acclaim and release timeline
'La Bola Negra' arrives at the festival with significant momentum. It has already collected major audience awards at both the Toronto and San Sebastián International Film Festivals. Directors Calvo and Ambrossi also won the best director award at the Cannes Film Festival for the project.
The film's release schedule is now set. It opens in a limited theatrical run on October 16. A global audience will get to see it when it premieres on Netflix on December 2.

Guitarricadelafuente first gained attention as a musician. His 2018 lo-fi recording 'El Conticinio,' made using a PlayStation microphone, later featured in a 2025 Apple commercial directed by Spike Jonze and starring Pedro Pascal. Early hits 'Guantanamera' and 'Nana Triste' have amassed 59 million and 70 million streams respectively.
